This Israeli study compares natural immunity to vaccine induced immunity against the Delta variant of SARS CoV 2. Analysing data from Maccabi Healthcare Services, it found that previously infected individuals had significantly lower risks of reinfection and symptomatic COVID 19 than those who were only vaccinated. Vaccinated individuals were 13.06 times more likely to have breakthrough infections and 27.02 times more likely to develop symptomatic COVID 19. The study highlights the robustness of natural immunity, suggesting it offers stronger and longer lasting protection compared to the BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine induced immunity.
